A Sporting Event for Women
La Source is proud to be associated with the event Lola To You. Here are a few points to consider if you wish to do a 3, 5 or 10 km run. The first important thing is to adopt a gradual increase in training. You are surely motivated to know if you are able to complete the distance you plan to do. Make sure, you start with shorter distances and slower intensity and build up on it. Give yourself a goal to keep you motivated. If you are new to this kind of event, a goal of completing the distance is a good one for this time. Using your result and experience you will be able to set a more specific goal for future events. Use time rather than a specific distance to plan your training sessions especially if you are a beginner. We advise you to do 3 run/jog or walk training per week and cross train with some walking, biking, swimming or weight training for the other days. Leave yourself at least one day off per week. Here are examples of training programs if you wish to run 3 or 5 km.

  • It is very important to wear a good pair of shoes made for walking or running. To know when it is time to change your shoes, don’t rely on the wear of the sole, there is a good chance the support of the shoe is worn out, especially if you train on the road and the trail. If your shoes are a least a year old, it would be advisable to purchase a new pair. When buying a shoe, don’t use the color as your only criteria to make your choice. The fit, the support and material are important.
